Jim Yanoschik Named 2020-21 Murrieta Rotarian of the Year

The Rotary Club of Murrieta named Jim Yanoschik 2020-21 Rotarian of the Year, the highest honor the club bestows for service above self.

“A founding member of the Murrieta Rotary and a past president, Jim was the obvious choice for this honor,” Immediate Past President Lou Ellen Ficke, said. “He has long-served in leading our Club’s support in the community, including with grants for teachers in the school district, help with foster youth programs, and assistance for other organizations, like the Salvation Army’s Child Spree as well as serving on their Board.”

During the COVID 19 shutdown, Yanoschik initiated the Club’s weekly FlashBuyMobs in support of local restaurants as they struggled during the pandemic. The popular gatherings continue into the post-pandemic period. He was instrumental in initiating food deliveries from Sizzler to Loma Linda University Medical Center Murrieta for the hospital’s medical staff.

Outside of Rotary, Jim is a strong supporter of organizations, like Canine Support Team, for which he raises puppies. He has raised millions for nonprofits with most of the money coming from the Janus Charity challenge involving the Ironman Triathlon.

A graduate of the University of Michigan’s dental school, Yanoschik served in the U.S. Navy after graduation. Following his military service, he moved to Southwest Riverside County where he established a dental practice in Temecula in 1987. Now retired, he devotes even more time to community services, supported by his wife, Brenda.
