Murrieta Rotary Seeks High School Musicians For 2024 Contest

Local high school students are invited to participate in the Rotary Club of Murrieta’s music competition which offers cash prizes and opportunities to move to district competitions. The Murrieta contest will be held at the Salvation Army Community Center, 40270 Los Alamos Rd. Murrieta on Thursday, January 25, 2024 starting at 6:30 p.m. Entry applications are due by Friday, January 19.

Students can compete in Piano, Vocal or Instrumental categories. Contestants will perform one or more pieces in the competition. Pianists and instrumentalists must play at least one piece of classical music while singers must perform songs from musical theater or classical music.

All contestants must be high school-level students, living within Rotary District 5330 (Riverside and San Bernardino counties). Cash prizes of $250 for first place, $150 second place and $50 for third will be awarded in each category. The winners of the Murrieta music competition will be entered in a district competition.

Entries for the music competition must be submitted no later than January 19, 2024, but the number of participants is limited so applying early is recommended.

What is the Music Competition?
Rotary District 5330 holds an Annual Music Competition for highly talented music students enrolled in high school within the District. Contestants will be from three categories: Vocal, Piano, and Instrumentalist. Judging is done by local professional musicians. Cash prizes are given by Murrieta Rotary Club, and by other local Rotary clubs. Winners then compete in the District Competition for additional prize money. All family members and the public are invited to attend the competitions.

What is Rotary?

Rotary International is a service organization which sponsors many outstanding youth programs such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp, Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest, Interact Clubs, and many other youth activities. Also, many academic scholarships and Teacher grants are awarded each year. All family members and the public are invited to attend the competitions. Due to time constraints, the number of participants will be limited, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
